Welcome to Bellville, Texas
Bellville is a city in and the county seat of Austin County, Texas, in the southeastern part of the state. The population was 3,794 at the 2000 census. Bellville was named for Thomas B. Bell, one of Stephen F. Austin's Old Three Hundred, after he donated land for the new county seat established by voters in 1846. The original county seat was located in San Felipe. Bellville is located at the intersection of State Highway 36 and State Highway 159 as well as FM 529, FM 1456, and FM 2429.

Regular Council Meeting       October 15th at 5:30 p.m

  • Our business hours are:
    8am-4pm
    Monday through Friday. 
    If you have an urgent problem after business hours, please call 865-3136 and our automated service will direct your call to the appropriate person or department.

  • Utility payments may be made during regular business hours at City Hall, by mail to 30 S. Holland, by  using the drive-through depository on the northwest side of City Hall, through a bank draft, or from the web site under View/Pay My Utility Bill.  We also accept VISA, MASTERCARD, and DISCOVER.

    All payments must be made by 4:00 pm on the 10th of each month in order to be considered timely.

    All mailed payments must be received by the 10th to be considered timely, regardless of the postmark.

    The same deadlines apply for the late payments made on the 20th in order to avoid disconnection.
  • The City provides once a week garbage pickup to all residents. Upon request and for a nominal fee, the City provides special pick-ups for items other than garbage. 
  • The City has a recycling at:
    600 W. Nichols. 

    Hours of operation
    Weekdays:

    7am - 4pm
    1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month:
    8am - 12noon

    The following items are accepted:
    newspapers, aluminum cans, tin cans,plastic bottles, used oil, batteries,leaves, and grass clippings.  All food containers must be rinsed.

    The following items are accepted for a fee:   sheetrock and roofing materials.

    For additional information call City Hall at 979-865-3136.  A utility stub may be required as proof of residency.

    Bags of leaves may be left on your curb and will be picked up during the week.

    City residents with brush or limbs may request curbside pick-up by calling City Hall, 979-865-3136, for a special trash pick-up for which there will be a charge.
  • The City has an ordinance requiring all dogs and cats to be vaccinated and penned or on a leash.
